Water Filtration Systems

Water Filtration Systems remove impurities from tap water. The most common are carbon or reverse-osmosis Water Filtration Systems. Look for certification by NSF International, which establishes the standards.

  • Test water to know the type of Water Filtration Systems needed.

  • Faucet-mounted Water Filtration Systems are inexpensive and easy to install but requires frequent filter changes

  • In-line Water Filtration Systems mount directly to your plumbing system. These Water Filtration Systems are more costly but more complete and require only occasional Water Filtration Systems filter changes

  • NSF-certified carbon Water Filtration Systems filters if your test comes back with chlorine, chloroform, pesticides or organic chemicals. Carbon Water Filtration Systems filters are not effective against lead or other heavy metals, flouride, chloroform, or microbial contaminants.

  • An in-line reverse-osmosis Water Filtration system is useful if your water test shows sodium, ferrous iron, nitrates, lead, fluoride or organic contaminants.

  • Reverse-osmosis Water Filtration Systems put out a limited amount of drinking water and could waste about 4 gallons of wasted water per gallon of clear water.

  • If your water's calcium count is high, you'll need to use a water softener with this Water Filtration Systems.

  • Consider a Water Filtration System with a cutoff meter, know as a performance indication device. It lets you know when it's time to change the Water Filtration Systems filter.

  • A sediment filter ahead of the carbon filter removes solids that clog the carbon.

  • Read product claims for removal and choose a Water Filtration Systems designed to treat your particular water conditions.

  • To obtain further information on Water Filtration Systems, contact NSF International at www.nsf.org or call (800) NSF-MARK.
