The Gaming Industry considers IAQ

The Global Gaming Expo (G2E), organized by the American Gaming Association,

kicks off on May 9 in Las Vegas. Hot topics this year include indoor air quality, with participants including major casino representatives like the VP of public affairs for MGM Mirage, and politicians from across the country. Casino operators from areas affected by Hurricane Katrina are looking to rebuild facilities of an even higher quality than before. Biloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana were highly ranked gaming centers before the storms. With cigarette smoke a major indoor air quality issue, the latest successful advances in casino design incorporate air filtration technology and improved ventilation.

Automotive IAQ Update

While car manufacturers may or may not choose to reduce their use of chemicals now known to compromise indoor air quality in car interiors,

air filters and air purifiers are now optional features on certain Ford, Toyota and Chrysler models. The devices use similar technology to the types of indoor air cleaners used in homes and offices, like AllerAir’s. As more and more people spend more and more time in traffic, automotive IAQ is becoming more and more relevant, according to the Society of Automotive Engineers International. In addition to reducing chemicals from car interiors and smog, car air filters help reduce allergens, dust, odors and pollen. J.D. Powers and Associates, an automotive market research firm, believes that air filters will remain a luxury for the time being, offered only as a component in pricey optional packages.
